Bill Pickett Riding Academy, (BPRA) Inc. is a Pennsylvania non-profit community-based organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Our principal purpose is to build self-esteem and life skills among Philadelphia youth, especially at-risk youth, through a variety of hands-on and historical equestrian programs.
Pickett provides lessons and instructions on horseback riding and equestrian care and safety. Taking turns caring for and riding the horses helps participants develop teamwork and sharing skills. Taking time to get to know each horse, to customize its care, and come to respect its uniqueness builds patience and respect. These experiences enhance the confidence and self-esteem of program participants.
